After More Than 20 Years, Everything Changed.
For more than two decades, my career was a major part of the life I had built.
I worked in Human Resources within the federal government, and like so many people, I believed that longevity, experience and a steady paycheck created security.
Then I was let go.
I wasn't prepared for everything I would feel.
And deeply uncertain about what came next.
It wasn't a neat, inspirational turning point.
It was real life.
And somewhere in the middle of all those emotions, I had to confront something I hadn't seriously considered before:
I had spent years depending on one job, one paycheck and one employer for my sense of financial security.
